Singapore Flowers

With so much running about town over the weekend there was little time to take photos, but enough to reminecse about my time in Singapore.

This capture is from the Cloud Forest conservatory at Gardens by the Bay - a mystery world with a 35 metre tall 'mountain' of lush vegetation, floral gems, waterfalls and mist.

Subi Art

What used to be an industrial area is now part of the Subiaco Centro development....a rather inviting residential area close to cafes, restaurants, the football stadium, the weekend Subi markets and theatres. Overall, a great spot to live as well as visit.

Looking Towards Fremantle Harbour

Back in Perth after a wonderful break in Singapore.
It's now time to look around some familiar places in Perth and Fremantle.

To Pulau Ubin

Travelling to the island of Pulan Ubin is an opportunity to experience another side of life in Singapore. Getting there by train and bus to the Changi Village ferry terminal is easy. On the way, the bus also passes the Changi Prison Museum and Chapel. Although it is no longer at the original Changi prison site if time allows, it's well worth visiting this tribute to Allied POWs.

Pulan Ubin is a short $2.50 bumboat ride across the bay from Changi Village. Ramshackle and with a feel of another time, it's a side of life in Singapore that fortunately development has not taken over.

Gardens By The Bay

These state of the art vertical garden Super Trees at Gardens by the Bay made me feel like I was stepping into a sci-fi movie......it's like wandering through an a world created with The Day of The Triffids in mind. Amazing.

View from the Hotel Window

In Singapore for a few days. What a great view from the hotel window. If only the rain would stop....soon!

Industrial Grunge

Taking time to wander around Fremantle Ports gave the opportunity to find some industrial "grunge" behind the Railway Hotel in Tydeman Road. Containers, petroleum storage tanks, workshops...it's all there. And the beach not far away.

May Evening Sky

Despite this ominous sky on Friday evening, it has been wonderful weekend weather in Perth.

A Relaxing Pastime

This group seemed to be having such an enjoyable time on the Swan River today.
I could have happily joined in for a leisurely paddle.

Play Time at Bathers Beach

It is getting towards the end of the School holidays here and whilst there has been a smattering of rain in the Perth the weather is still warm enough to enjoy a visit to the beaches.

At Bathers Beach in Fremantle.

Sunrise This Morning

It was worth getting up early this morning to enjoy the fleeting beauty of sunrise over the Darling Ranges.
