To Pulau Ubin

Travelling to the island of Pulan Ubin is an opportunity to experience another side of life in Singapore. Getting there by train and bus to the Changi Village ferry terminal is easy. On the way, the bus also passes the Changi Prison Museum and Chapel. Although it is no longer at the original Changi prison site if time allows, it's well worth visiting this tribute to Allied POWs.

Pulan Ubin is a short $2.50 bumboat ride across the bay from Changi Village. Ramshackle and with a feel of another time, it's a side of life in Singapore that fortunately development has not taken over.

  2. Now that would be a fascinating way to see a side of Singapore lost to the routine tourist.
