Time for High Tea?

I always enjoy strolling through Block Arcade when in Melbourne. Through the cafes crammed close together, Haig's Chocolates and of course Hopetoun Tearooms - definitely for those with a sweet tooth.

I have yet to make it through the door but there was no shortage of customers waiting to sample these delights when I passed by.

Reflections in McGraths Lane

During the week I took time whilst walking along Little Collins Street to capture light reflections along the way.

Croft Alley, Melbourne

In Melbourne for a few days to see some of the Australian Open also meant an opportunity to visit  Croft Alley. I have been wanting to visit since seeing the street art and graffiti featured by Joe from Melbourne Snaps.

A little dingy and somewhat hard to find, Croft Alley is near China Town. Amongst the myriad tags and graffiti that make this lane way a photographers must see is the pharmacy inspired Croft Institute bar and nightspot. Our first stop after arriving here on Friday night.

L Driver

The learner driver of this car must enjoy creating more than a little attention on our roadways.

From the Car Wash

Not even being in the carwash would stop me playing with my new small camera, an Olympus OM-D, bought for easy travel.

Perth Bound

There are many perspectives to Perth city that bring richness and diversity to the streetscape. The juxtaposition of transport, street art and railway so close to the city centre caught my attention as I was walking along Wellington street.

The inbound Perth train is about to pass  under the Barrack Street bridge and into the Perth station.

Missing Tooth Street

I spotted this interesting alternate street name for Brisbane Street while waiting at traffic lights in Highgate not far from Perth.

The alternate street name presumably references an interesting past for this roadway. It certainly captured my imagination enough to make me stop and that this pic. A quick look on the internet did not come up with an explanation for the street name but left me wondering if this where dentists used to ply their trade in Perth.

Old Railway Bridge Nannup

Built in 1908 to link Nannup with Busselton and Bunbury, the railway provided the means of transport for timber and farm produce from the area until better roads and motor transport meant the closing of the railway in 1984.

Upstream from the bridge is the site of the horse ford - the original river crossing used by early settlers.

Welcome 2013

It has been a busy conclusion to 2012 with family, David Walter and his wife, visiting from California. This is a photo of a timepiece that was handmade by David Walter, a master clockmaker.

Earlier this year, he visited Western Australia to install this intricate timepiece. You can see more of David's collection by clicking here.

Best wishes for a wonderful and fulfilling 2013.
