Evening Light

Whilst this scene may look quiet and subdued in the evening light there has been much that has been going on since I last posted to this blog. I will continue to have a break for the next few weeks - without the camera - and look forward to posting and visiting other blogs again in November.

Best wishes,

Rae

Shimmer in East Perth

It's ages since I have been to Claisebrook Cove in East Perth. So it was not until today that I came across this new public art installation on the banks of the cove.

I love sculpture - walking around an installation to get a sense of the piece and in this case, lying down on the grass and looking up into the work.

On a nearby plaque Shimmer is described thus: Shimmer amplifies and celebrates the transitory qualities of this place. In today's light breeze the form moved gently as the sunlight reflected beautifully from its surface. Wonderful.

Artists for this interesting piece were Jurek Wybraniec and Stephen Neille.

And to get a different perspective, a shot below of the installation in its urban setting. Unfortunately, there is still much construction work going on nearby that detracts from this recently acquired artwork.

Morning Walk

There is nothing better than a walk along the sands of Floreat Beach.

White sands, no maddening crowds and beautiful ocean.  Whether it's the blue skies of summer, the roar of a winter ocean or during the season's in between, it's my favourite place.

Moments of Magic at City Beach

If I'm out walking in the morning, it is likely to be at City Beach.

The last few days have been fabulous - great weather and the sea is just beautiful - so much so that after a long walk yesterday I went home to grab the camera to capture some of these moments of magic.

Taking Time to be With Nature

I often drive past the Herdsman Wildlife Centre on the way to 'somewhere else' and then on the way home again. Despite being close to home, I have rarely stopped by this park.

Today changing my journey from this well travelled route and taking time to visit these wetlands took just a little extra time and was certainly worth the effort.

City Daily Theme Day: Silhouettes

The first of each month has a theme for City Daily Photos. Today's theme is Silhouettes.

This photo brings back wonderful holiday memories and was taken whilst we were passing through the beautiful town of Pitlochry in Scotland.
