Bold Park where I took yesterday's photo of the fog lifting over Perth is a delightful place to walk through the natural coastal vegetation. I feel so lucky to have this park to wander through so close to home.

Banksia trees are very much part of our bushland and it was whilst walking down from the Bold Park hilltop yesterday morning that the light on this Banksia tree caught my attention.

After the flowers dies a rather interesting looking cone shape remains. The Banksia tree then takes on quite a different form. It was this cone shape with its strange follicles and eye shaped holes that inspired May Gibbs' drawings of the Banksia Men who were the villains in her children's book series Cuddlepot and Snugglepie.

  1. I love seeing all the different varieties.

  2. Its a beautiful capture Rae ... The light is perfect.

  3. Very beautiful. Never seen alike before. Please have a good Friday.

  4. That is amazing and really beautiful.
