All a Blur

While friends glided across the floor boards today rehearsing a dance step or two for a performance on Saturday night  I clicked away seeking to capture some blurred motion shots.

My inspiration for painting comes from photographs I have taken and here's one which seems destined for an abstract painting.  So it's very likely that in the not too distance future this image will reappear in a totally different (and abstract) art form.

  3. Yep, really nice to experience. What was the dance - a quickstep? Or something choreographed?

  4. Inspiration comes from many different sources. I'd like to see this photo and the inspired painting together when you finish the art work!

  5. Perfect inspiration for an abstract painting Rae. Aimee is participating in a Salsa dance exhibition on Friday and I'm so hoping that I'll be able to take some shots there.

  11. Julie, the dance was choreographed to shoe tapping, energising 1920s or 1930s music. It was difficult to take shots and not get carried away by the rhythm of the music filling John's house. I also printed off an AO size of this images today to see hour it looked blown up and was delighted with the result. Now some decisions about the printing as well as painting! Thank you all for your comments.

  12. Ooo ... I love much of the music from those years. Yes, please. Do keep us apprised of the work as it transitions from photograph to painting. I am sure many of us would be entranced with the decision points and the direction you decide upon within the whole.
