Homeward Bound

My wonderful adventure ends today as I board the plane and start the long journey back to Perth and home. Until I return, adios Argentina and hello Perth.

Teatro Colon, Tribunales Buenos Aires

Opened in 1908 recent renovations have taken several years to complete. Teatro Colon is now getting ready for the start of the 2011 Opera season. In this great opera house, what a magical experience that would be.

Land Lovers Again - First Coffee Ushuaia Argentina

Shackleton Odyssey: The Journey Begins

Leaving Ushuaia and the calm Beagle Channel to cross the Drake Passage our journey begins to the South Shetland Islands, Antarctic Peninsula, South Orkney Islands, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands.

Part of our journey will follow in the footsteps of Sir Ernest Shackleton whose ship "Endurance" was crushed in pack ice in the Weddell Sea in 1916.

In South Georgia, a hardy and experienced group of climbers will traverse South Georgia following in Shackelton's footsteps across the island from King Haakon Bay to Stromness Bay.

Calm Drake Passage Crossing

Albatross and other sea birds accompany us on our crossing.

Evening Sunset and First Zodiac Landing at Aitcho Island

Aitcho Island was given it's name "HO" in 1935 by the British in honour of the Admiralty Hydrographic Office.
