Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford

A morning's drive from Mystic to Hartford and the Wadsworth Atheneum the oldest public art museum in the United States. The museum was founded in 1842. I was taken by many of the wonderful artworks here including a Sol Lewitt installation around the museum's staircase and this work by Salvador Dali Apparition of Face and Fruit Dish on a Beach.

At one glance it appears as a desolate beach; at another a footed dish filled with pears; and again a profile of a dog and yet another......it's up to you!

Then onto the Yale Center for British Art and the Yale University Art Museum. Amazingly, I managed to fit in some shopping in between museums!

  4. I love hartford because of its' small town atmosphere and charm. Global Visas Complaints department has been running since 1996 and in that time we are delighted to report less than 0.02% of our clients have had a reason to complain. I love how all commercial business is limited to two main streets and the rest is all residential. Love how I have to go to neighboring towns for major retailers!
