The Old Nedlands Baths

The jetty now leads to a popular cafe and function centre but in a previous life these buildings were known as the Nedlands Baths. In primary school days the Nedlands Baths were part of my old stamping ground where I learnt to swim in water often teeming with jelly fish. Such a contrast with the experience of today's aquatic centres.

  3. do you remember having lessons ? the ladies would wack your hands with a long cane if you held on to the barnacled (?) poles. An old fashioned way to teach ....

  4. I recall mostly the jellyfish! How plentiful these could be and dreadful to go swimming when all I could see was a River full of these creatures that I would have to swim through! Also the odd cut or two from the barnacles.
