Off the Line

Just off the railway line between Perth and Fremantle, is the Railway Hotel in Tydeman Road North Fremantle. The Railway Hotel has been a home to jazz in Freo since the 1980s. Jazz is on every Saturday afternoon from 4pm to 7pm and combined with a meal at one of Freo's many cafes, makes for a great evening. If you also visit at the right time and need a haircut, the on site barber can meet your needs. A hotel has been on the site since the 1890s. I have been told that during re-construction, the railway line was diverted to ensure the hotel, which is opposite Fremantle's north wharf, was retained. Tall tale or true, who knows but it makes a good story!

  3. Leif, Pierre, a great atmosphere here and loved the jazz. The photo was taken during an enjoyable afternoon journey with friends around Fremantle of some of the old and current jazz venues.

Grace, really worth a visit. Rae
