Morning Ride

This morning photo was taken at Mueller Park. The park is next to Paterson's Stadium in Subiaco and has also been known as Kitchener Park. During much of the 1990s, the parklands were home to tennis, croquet, bowls, football and cricket clubs. Today, it is a beautiful open space area we can all enjoy .

Wesley Church William Street

The foundation stone of the Wesley Church on the corner of William and Hay Streets, Perth was laid in 1867. It was nearly three years later before the first congregation meet there on 10 April 1870. The exterior of the church underwent restoration in 1987 and stands proudly against the backdrop of the surrounding high rise office buildings.

The Eagle has Landed

I had been taking photos of the Nannup bush when an eagle came into view. It stayed around for a while and I became absorbed in watching it landing and then moving onto other treetops. A wonderful experience. What a magnificent bird!

Nannup Easter Market

Almost 300 kms from Perth and nestled in the heart of the Blackwod River Valley, Nannup is a beautiful and historic town that is part of the Balingup/Nannup/Bridgetown tourist drive. It is really worth a visit particularly  for the natural beauty of the forest surrrounds and National Parks, the annual music and tulip festivals, easy access to more busy coastal and other south west towns, close  proximity  to  the  Margaret  River Wine  region and much more. I can't think of a better place to relax and  "chill out". It was market day when I visited town.

Vineyard Slopes

These vines are on the northern side of a valley that has a gradient of about fiften per cent. That is, its's fairly steep working here. The fence is high enough to keep the kangaroos at bay, although the crows have been having a field day feeding on some of the grapes that have been left on the vines.

Watching Brief

Walking down the track, I could feel a watchful eye on me as I passed by this herd of grazing cattle. The pastures are still dry, but there has been a little rain and some heavy dews. Patches of green grasses are starting to come through bringing relief to the brown and dusty pastures and feed for the cattle.

Hoping for Rain

While other parts of Australia have had more than their fair share of rain, in Perth we are still waiting to hear the pitter-patter of rain drops. Now what a welcomed sound that would be! It's drought here, so we haven't been dashing into retailers to buy umbrellas for protection from the rain, more like protection from the sun. Here's hoping for rain this Saturday.
